Passing through eastern Nevada on their way to Virginia City, brothers Jacob and Jason West both stop off for a rest near a town called Palisade, known as the "bloodiest town in the West." The catch is they are traveling separately, and neither of them knows the other is within hundreds of miles. Brothers Kirby and Jamie Jonas did a wonderful job collaborating on this book. I could hardly wait for the sequel to come out after enjoying the tale the two brothers penned in this first joint work, another outstanding Jonas creation.
Good book
A great book by the modern master of the west Kirby Jonas and his brother Jaime, just for good measure!
Kirby is a great author and a great friend. His stories are interesting, original, and extremely well written and researched. I would dare say they are hypnotizing. Once you start reading you can't put it down. He keeps you wanting more through out the entire book and then you want another!
Kirby Jonas is by far the best western writer. I have never read such a book as "Death of an Eagle". Every page leaves you hungering for more. You just cannot stop reading this book until the end. Kirby Jonas talent for writing is a gift too us all. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone.
Disciples of the Wind is Kirby Jonas at his very best. It introduces us, his fans to another Jonas writer, his brother Jamie. Together they have written the first of what I hope will be an ongoing narrative of brothers Jacob and Jason West and the remaining West kin as promised in the author's notes. The vividness of the author's word pictures can only be equaled by the stark beauty of the Palisades, Pine Valley, Pinon Range and the Cortez mountains. I have seen them. Disciples of the Wind flows from page to page, from chapter to chapter in the same manner as the Humboldt river flows from Palisade to Carlin to Elko and beyond quenching the thirst of man, beast and vegetation. Disciples of the Wind quenches my thirst for western novels written the Jonas way with acute attention to detail, thorough and exhaustive research and an unforgettable story. Well done Kirby and Jamie! I anxiously anticipate book two, Reapers of the Wind.

My friend Kirby is not just a western folklore writer, he is much more than that. His stories are so very original, he puts his heart and soul into his research and of his charactors. I have been a huge fan since book 1. Season of the Vigilante. Disciples of the Wind is another book I found very difficult not to read a one setting. Once I started I could not put it down. It also introduced us to Kirby's brother Jamie who is another talented writer. A winning collaboration, and I hope to see more.
